Overview

The Christian and Missionary Alliance, often called the C&MA or The Alliance, is an evangelical denomination and global mission movement.

History

It was organised by A. B. Simpson in 1887, initially combining a deeper-life spirituality with overseas mission and later developing churches and denominational structures.

Beliefs and emphases

Its Fourfold Gospel presents Jesus Christ as Saviour, Sanctifier, Healer, and Coming King. It is evangelical and Trinitarian, stresses Scripture, conversion, mission, and the work of the Holy Spirit.

Worship and practice

Church worship varies by setting but commonly includes preaching, prayer, music, Baptism, communion, discipleship, healing prayer, and mission engagement.

Organisation and life

Local churches cooperate through districts, national structures, and international mission partnerships; governance varies across national Alliance bodies.
