Overview

The Church of Christ (Temple Lot) is a Latter-day Saint restorationist church associated with ownership of part of the Temple Lot in Independence, Missouri.

History

It developed in the nineteenth century from the early Latter Day Saint movement and is often called Hedrickite after Granville Hedrick. It shares early history with larger restorationist churches but follows its own succession and authority claims.

Beliefs and emphases

It teaches restoration of the New Testament church, receives the Bible and Book of Mormon, practises Baptism and communion, and rejects the idea that one person should claim the office of prophet or president over the church.

Worship and practice

Local congregations gather for preaching, prayer, singing, testimony, communion, and Baptism. Its sources connect church membership and communion to baptism and priesthood ministry.

Organisation and life

It is led by a Quorum of Twelve Apostles and priesthood offices rather than a single president-prophet.
